Our Mission
Rooted exists to celebrate, connect, and support Black-owned farms across the United States. We believe in the power of the land and the people who tend it.
The Story
In 1920, there were nearly one million Black farmers in America. By 2017, that number had dropped to fewer than 50,000. Decades of systemic discrimination, land loss, and lack of access to resources devastated Black farming communities.
But a powerful resurgence is underway. A new generation of Black farmers is reclaiming the land, growing fresh food for their communities, and building sustainable businesses that honor their agricultural heritage.
Rooted was created to shine a light on these farmers and make it easy for people across America to discover, support, and connect with Black-owned farms in their area.
